We finally had a real old school
winter in the Cody area this year. With all that snow comes alot of
dirty water in the spring, it also means lower water temps in august
and better fishing through late summer and fall, Our spawning grounds
will get a good flush which means more wild fish for us all. We all
need to take a close look at the practice of fishing to spawning fish,
I don't think most people realize what's going on so they fish
as they always would, not knowing they're wading through the spawning
beds, dislodging the eggs and putting the fish in stressful
situations. To identify a spawning bed can take a well trained eye,
but if you see fish in a large group interacting with each other,
chasing each other or slapping their bodies against the bottom of the
stream, your probably on a spawning bed. If you have any questions
about this issue or would like more detailed info on how to identify a
spawning bed, call us at 307-587-2757. I can easily walk up to a
spawning fish and catch it with my hand, that tells you these fish are
genetically programmed stay in that spot until their work is finished.
Some of these critters can be caught over and over in the same
session, and that's simply not good for the fish.
Its going to be another amazing
summer of fishing in cody country, so dont miss out. And
remember,"Hook'um in the face", Moof.
