THE LOWER
SHOSHONE: High, muddy. Fish from 12 to 20 inches can be expected with much bigger
fish always possible. This river is great fishing for beginners or
experts. CALL FOR DETAILS 307-587-2757. We have a good snow pack this
year, that means we're going to have a big runoff. Call for details.
THE WIND RIVER:
Low and fishing great 1350 c.f.s.. The tricos are here!!!
From 5:00am till about 10:00am tricos are very important, the smallest
mayfly in the area, they are called the white winged curse. Blizzard
hatches happen early in the morning starting before sunrise, the trout
start feeding like pigs. This is fine dry fly fishing to very large,
intelligent trout so beginners beware, but if you can cast 30 to 45
accurately this is a special hatch. After the hatch ends the trout
start to focus in on scuds, sowbugs in 12, 14, 16, in orange, grey ,
pink and olive and litlle mayfly nymphs in sizes 16 through 24. This
is the time to be out if you are into fishing tiny dries big fish, good dry
fly action and very few anglers are just a few reasons I believe this
river is one of the best in the lower 48. The wind river is not really for beginners, long casts,
small tippets and big spooky fish can make it a real challenge but
with patience a greenhorn can pick up some good fish. We have a good
snow pack this year, that means we're going to have a big runoff. Call
for details.
