REPORT POSTED: Saturday february 13th. THE
DRY FLY ACTION IS HERE!!!! The baetis are hatching and the midges never
stop!!!!
|
TAILWATERS:
THE LOWER SHOSHONE:
FISHING VERY WELL, DONT FORGET YOUR DRY
FLIES!!!! call shop for details. the
dry fly action is here!!!!
The blue winged olives (sizes 18
through 24)are out in full
force and the fish are up and sipping!!!!Midges are very important In
sizes 20 through 26, dries and nymphs. All
general beadheads are working well.. Scuds and sowbugs ,they can hook
the biggest fish of your day. Streamers are very important this time
of year for those big aggressive fish that refuse insects because they
are meat eaters.,
THE BIGHORN RIVER, THERMOPOLIS:
THE WATER IS PERFECT AND THE RAINBOWS ARE ON THE
RUN!!!! CAN YOU SAY BIG FISH ON DRY FLIES? The blue winged olives(
18 THROUGH 26) are out in full force and these hogs
have been gorging themselves for the last couple of weeks. Midge dries
are also on the menu in sizes 18 through 26.
Don't forget a full selection of scuds and sowbugs along with
small mayfly nymphs and midge nymphs, we all know they don't eat dry
flies all day everyday so be prepared to go deep.
Same as the lower Shoshone but these fish are
bigger, stronger and smarter. You will need lighter tippets here,
longer casts that need to be deadly accurate, in other words if you
are a beginner I don't suggest this river, the lower Shoshone is a
better river for beginners and can still challenge anglers of any
level.
WILD RIVERS:
THE NORTHFORK OF THE SHOSHONE:
STILL HAS ICE BUT STARTING TO BREAK UP!!!
CLARKSFORK OF THE YELLOWSTONE
THE
UPPER CLARKSFORSFORK :STILL HAS ICE BUT
BREAKING UP SOON!!!
THE LOWER CLARKSFORK:
ICE IS OFF AND ITS FISHING WELL!!!
Midges and baetis
are on the menu, (18 through 26) Streamers , big stonefly nymphs and
general beadheads.
LAKES: AREA
LAKES ARE ALL STILL ICED UP. the next month will bring the thaw, this
is some of the best fishing of the year. This may be the best time of
year to land a 20+ inch trout. East
Newton:STILL HAS ICE. Sunshine reservoir
: STILL HAS ICE.
