RENTAL
EQUIPMENT
The Humble Fly Fishing
Shop has everything you need, to rent, for a day on the river. Rods,
reels, waders and boots. So if your just starting out, forgot your
gear, or you just want to try some new equipment, we've got you
covered.
EQUIPMENT YOU
WILL NEED FOR A GUIDED TRIP
Waders -
Breathable waders are my first choice, they are light, easy
to walk in, and they will keep you cool. In the cooler days of fall,
winter and spring, neoprene will due. During the hottest days of the
year we can wade in shorts or light pants with felt soled wading boots
on.
Boots -
Felt bottomed wading boots are the best. Aqua stealth soles
are ok. Do not bring studded wading boots, they can be very dangerous
on a lot of our river rocks.
Clothing -
Simple, bring a bit of everything. I've had trips that
started at 32 degrees and ended up at 90 degrees. Most days are not
this extreme, but you need to come with layers. You also need
something to protect you from rain and wind.
Rods -
For fishing Cody's water, the best all around rod will be a
nine foot, five weight medium fast or fast action rod. This will do
just about everything you need. Don't forget the old saying, "the
right tool for the right job." This means a three weight rod will be
more fun on small water fish. A six weight will do the best job on a
large windy river. Do a little research or give us a call and we will
help you pinpoint what you plan to do the most and which rod will
serve you the best.
Reels -
The old saying goes, "A reel is made to hold line." This
means any old reel will due and about 70% of the time I believe this
statement to be true. The other 30% of the time your reel is very
important. When you are fishing light tippets to big fish your reel
can then be the most important piece of your gear. The other 30% of
time that I speak of, is the time you will have a big strong fish on
and this is the most time of your fishing day. Disc drags are my first
choice, spring and pawl would be second and no drag would be my last
choice. If you would like assistance choosing a reel, give us a call
(307) 587-2757 and we'll be happy to help you in any way we can.
Fly lines -
Pretty simple, weight forward is the best choice in this
area. Weight forward gives you the power to punch your cast into the
wind. Double tapers are acceptable. Any color will do.
Sunglasses
- Polarized sunglasses on some days will help you more than
any other piece of gear. If you can't see your fly due to glare,
you're going to miss a lot of fish.
